Apple Changes Plans, Reschedules Launch Of Self-Driving Car To 2026

It’s no news anymore that Apple has had plans for their self-driving car for years. Sometime this year, reports had it that the brand was making moves to make the project a reality in no time. But, it looks like the brand has recently scaled back on its ambitious plans for a self-driving car.

The company’s automotive plans, known as Project Titan, have been taking gradual shape since 2014 when they first started designing a vehicle from scratch.

The brand is scaling back to plan a less-ambitious design that will include a steering wheel and pedals and only support fully autonomous capabilities on highways.

This is going against the original plans of no steering wheels. But Reuters added that the company plans to develop a vehicle that lets drivers conduct other tasks on a freeway and be alerted with ample time to switch over to manual control.

The Apple self-driving car was expected in 2025, and the project was to be a 100% self-driving car.

Apple’s ideal car would have no steering wheel and pedals, with interiors designed around hands-off driving, and seats backing the road. But, it seems all of that is changing and taking a new shape.

The reason for this change could be the logicality that such a car will be approved as road-worthy.
