Anyone who is in the market for the new 2020 Mercedes GLA has so far only been able to choose from two versions for diesel engines. That is different from now on. Mercedes-Benz expands the GLA range with a new diesel version: the 180 d.

The power of the 2020 Mercedes GLA 180 d is 116 hp and 280 Nm, good for a sprint from standstill to a speed of 100 km / h in 10.8 seconds. The top speed is set at 190 km / h.

The new diesel engine is in all cases linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission with double clutch. The average consumption, depending on the chosen version, is 4.6-4.8 l / 100 km. 4Matic drive is not available, while for the 200 d and 220 d there is that choice.

To date, there were two diesel engines on the price list of the 2020 Mercedes GLA: the 150 hp 200 d and the 190 hp 220 d. Those two are now joined by a new entry-level diesel: the 180 d.

The second generation of the GLA has not been on the market for very long and that means that the engine range is not very extensive. Fortunately, Mercedes-Benz has a good tradition of steadily expanding the engine range of a new model, especially in the first year of the car’s life.
