Wilfred Ndidi was born on the 16^th of December 1996 and began his senior football career in 2015 by playing for Genk, a Belgian Pro-League team. He is a native of Delta State, Nigeria but was raised in Lagos, Nigeria.

He stayed at Genk for a year before he signed a transfer deal of 17 million Euros with Leicester City, which was then confirmed on the 5^th of January 2017. He solidified his stance as a player in the club scoring a goal against Everton on 7^th January 2017.

At the early stage of his football career, Wilfred Ndidi was among the Nigerian youth team while he played for Nathaniel Boys Academy. He was excluded from playing following a report test that he was above the required age grade. But in October 2015 he was called up by the senior Nigerian team, where he won against DR Congo and Cameroon, and it was from his performance at these games that he was selected as a provisional squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
