Reasons Why Your Car Is Shaking

  1. Problem With The Engine: There are some parts within the vehicle, if not properly taken care of, that can cause the engine to malfunction and cause the car to shale. It could come from the spark plugs and the engine air filter. What you need to do is to check the spark plugs and ensure they are well connected. As a general rule, spark plugs are able to last for about 80,000 to 100,000 miles. That depends on the make and model of the vehicle you are using. If the spark plugs are okay and their connection is okay too, then the air filter should be checked next because a dirty or clogged engine air filter can make the engine of oxygen and fuel that it needs to run properly.
  2. Problem With The Axle: Another reason why your car is shaking may be because of the axle. Most vehicles are given two axles, one for connection to the rear wheels and the other for connection to the front wheels. The vibration can occur if both or either of the axles is bent or dented which is more likely to happen in an accident or other toad issues. The vibration increases when you accelerate especially if it is a problem with the axle. What you need to do is to inspect the CV joints and driveshaft regularly for likely problems. If the CV joints are worn, it can lead to dust and dirt getting in which can damage the joints.
  3. Problem With The Brakes: If the vibration only happens when you step on the brakes, then this means that it is your brakes that have the issue. The front brake takes the most stress in the car during driving because if the pressure out on them when they are applied. There are few parts on the front disc brakes that should be replaced often which are the pads and rotors. The rotor is the round metal disc that is attached to the wheels. It can become warped overtime from wear and tear. There are pads that press against the rotor in order to slow the vehicle down and these pads need to have a certain thickness for it to work properly. The vehicle can vibrate if these pads become too worn. There is also usually a calliper that helps to squeeze the pads against the rotor to slow down and stop the vehicle. All vehicles have timelines for when the brakes need to be replaced but the average is 50,000 miles. Some make and models can last longer.
  4. Worn Out Tires: The tires can be problem depending on how bad the vibration is or the make of the car. This issue can be addressed in many ways. If the vibration is felt when in full speed, it means that the tires are not well balanced. The solution is to get a tire rotation if the tires are wearing unevenly and causing the car to vibrate. The driver may need to replace the tires with new tires in some cases, depending on how bad the vibration is.
  5. Problem With The Steering Wheel: If the steering wheel is shaky or wiggly, it means that there is a problem with it. It may mean it is not spinning properly; it could be as a result of the wheel bearing, ball joints or tie rod ends.

How To Solve The Problem Of A Shaking Car

  1. Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for a more accurate timeline for replacement: If your car starts shaking all of a sudden and you have figured out what the problem is, it is high time you changed the part that caused the shake if needed. In addition, whenever you get an oil change, let your mechanic visually check the condition of your pads and rotors. These professionals can give you a better idea of when replacement is necessary.
  2. Change the car if possible: Sometimes, it may be your car that needs replacement. If you keep changing the parts you feel is making your car shake and the problem still does not go away, it may be time for you to upgrade to a new and better car.
