On Monday, November 7, 2022, it noted that the brand had sold 7,430 supercars in the first 9 months of 2022. The brand also noted they are on its way to surpassing its general record of 8,405 car units sold in 2021. About this, the CEO said,

“we will be ahead of this number for sure. We have no slowdown in sales. Every month we’re selling more cars than we’re able to deliver.”

This year, Lamborghini car delivery rose in several global markets, especially in the US, China, Japan, Germany, and the UK. Amongst all the Lamborghini cars that have been sold this year, the V10-powered Huracan leads the sales.

This is followed by the Lamborghini Urus SUV that debuted in 2018 and delivered over 4,834 units in 2022. The car is also the brand’s number 1 model.

During an ABC News interview with the Lamborghini CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, he stated that the company will unveil an electric supercar by 2028. He noted that it’d be a 180-degree turn from the powerful gas-powered engines that helped make Lamborghini a success. He also noted that the brand’s customers are ready for the future.

When asked if it’s possible to find a new Lamborghini car inside a US dealership, he said,

“There might be some used cars…but 99.9% you won’t find a new car.”

Also note that Lamborghini plans on making its entire lineup hybrid by 2024. ABC News asked the CEO why not make the entire lineup fully electric. Here’s what he had to say,

“Things have to be done at the right time and with the right technology. The hybrid technology for us is the best in terms of performance and also in terms of technology. We will be the first super sports car brand to have a full hybrid lineup. The first EV model will come by the end of this decade, around 2028. By then we think our community of customers will be ready for buying electric super sports cars.”

ABC News asked him further about the Lamborghini car that’ll become the first hybrid car, and the CEO replied,

“The first hybrid car will be the following to the Aventador, which will have a completely new V12 engine and it will be a plug-in hybrid. We’re going to present the car at the end of the first quarter of next year.”

About preorders for the hybrid car, the CEO said Lamborghini already has 3,000 preorders. He noted that this means the acceptance is very high even though few customers have seen the car.
