Rumour has it that the Toyota Tacoma could be delayed for redesign until 2025. It has taken years for the next-generation Tacoma to take shape, and now things could be pushed back by months, which means it could be coming in 2025 instead of the announced 2024.

When Does Toyota Plan To Release The Redesigned Toyota Tacoma?

Plans for the new generation of Tacoma are not yet clear. But Toyota seems to be tracking updates for the 2024 model. Now, the rumour is that it could be delayed until 2025.

Gear Patrol announced that the new Tacoma is facing significant delays. The current model was expected to end production in August 2023, so the new model could enter production by December 2023.

The delivery could start arriving by February 2024, but everything has been delayed by four months, meaning the current-generation Tacoma will have to last just a little longer. As a result, production could start for the new model in 2024 in preparation for 2025.

Why Is The 2025 Tacoma Facing Delays?

The supply chain shortage, also due to the Coronavirus, is now affecting production problems. Now, each Toyota vehicle redesign is pushed back by a year. However, Toyota is actively working on making the redesign a success. For now, only minor trim work and each model’s unique style need to be finished.

How Much Power Will The New Toyota Tacoma Have?

Some clues suggest that the 2025 Toyota Tacoma could be paired with a Dynamic Force inline-four hybrid engine. This would help it compete against the Ford Ranger Hybrid and Jeep Gladiator 4xe, which are expected to be its competitor in the market.

Rumours also say Toyota has the EV version of the Tacoma in the works. It’ll look like the gas-powered models but with a unique grille design.

The standard 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine with 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque will probably be dropped. The 3.6-litre V6 engine with 276 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque may have some life left as a durable and reliable unit.

The six-speed automatic and manual transmission options will probably be updated as well. Plus, the rear end could receive an updated coil spring suspension like the larger Toyota Tundra.
