The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) has warned illegal and roadside traders to stop operating in the state to ensure that the free flow of traffic continues in certain parts of the state. The agency’s General Manager, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, made the warning while addressing the officers of the agency at a meeting held at the weekend.

According to Mr Oreagba, the activities of illegal traders along Lagos State Street have obstructed the free flow of traffic in the area. He stated that the law prohibiting the activities of both sellers and buyers in the area has been enforced. There are various penalties for those found guilty of violating the law.

The agency’s General Manager stated that the continuous presence of illegal traders on the roads has become a major issue that has affected the smooth flow of traffic in the state. He said the agency would continue to put a stop to their activities by ensuring that the activities related to their business are taken off the roads. He also stated that the agency would protect the lives of illegal traders by preventing them from getting involved in unfortunate accidents.
