Musiliu Akinsaya, better known as MC Oluomo, is the chairman of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Association. He has outlawed the collecting of unlawful taxes collected by “agberos” in some regions of the state.

In response to tensions with highway tax collectors known as agberos, Oluomo made the decision after meeting with commercial bus drivers on Thursday.

Several commercial bus drivers on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway started a protest on Wednesday over extortion they say they’ve experienced.

Passengers were spotted walking long distances as a result of the protest, which dampened commercial activity in the Toll-gate section of the Lagos-Abeokuta highway.

One of the commercial bus drivers present at the meeting with MC Oluomo shared the outcomes with FIJ.

When we met with MC Oluomo on Thursday afternoon at the state council, he said that no motorist from Oshodi to Tollgate should be forced to pay unlawful agbero fees.

We are limited to purchasing two tickets per day; any further purchases will incur just loading costs.

“The Lagos State Park Administration has set the standard admission price at merely N800.

He declared that the additional levies of Iyana Ipaja and Agbado Ijaiye were null and void. Our daily tickets may be purchased in either Oshodi or Tollgate.

Following that, we’ll spend about N500 on a council ticket and booking for security.

He said that no motorist should have to pay for tickets on the weekends since MC Oluomo ordered them.

He further said that MC Oluomo had given N1 million to the wounded protesting drivers.
