The Lagos State Government has announced plans to divert traffic for 18 days, beginning on Saturday, October 23, and ending on November 9, 2021, when the Federal Ministry of Works begins the second phase of emergency repairs on the Eko Bridge (Alaka-Apongbon) section of the state.
Dr Frederic Oladeinde, the State Commissioner for Transportation, announced this on Thursday while issuing a travel caution to motorists and the general public.
The diversion point will be located on the Apongbon bound of the bridge, according to the repair schedule stated in the notification provided by the Federal Minister of Works.

Oladeinde stated that as a result of the development, motorists entering Apongbon from Alaka will be rerouted via the Costain Roundabout to reach their destinations.
To aid vehicles traversing the axis during construction, the commissioner confirmed that traffic guides will be installed along the impacted routes.
Oladeinde also stated that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, will be present on the ground to coordinate movement. While commending the citizens for their unwavering understanding and patience during the state’s many ongoing road improvements, Oladeinde guaranteed that the end result will benefit both the people and the state.
