With the plight of several Lagosians and many Nigerians concerning traffic congestion, parking problems and environmental pollution all affecting smooth road transportation, the Lagos State Government has announced its plans of hosting the maiden edition of the National Transport Technology Conference and Exhibition (NTTCE).

It was disclosed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, at a media briefing held at Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja that the conference will be held from the 7th to 8th of June, 2022 at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.
He also stated that this two-day conference organised by the Nigeria Transport Commissioners Forum, under the aegis of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, will feature transport technology and investment opportunities in line with world best practices.

Hinting at those that’ll be in attendance during the event, he mentioned key decision-makers, experts and operators in the road, rail, water, and air transport sectors, who’ll be there to engage in discussions on current and emerging trends in the smart transportation infrastructure to adopt and implement the emerging trends in the Nigerian transportation space.

The commissioner further explained that conversations would also gear towards deliberations concerning improving the efficiency and sustainability of transport technology solutions in Nigeria, adding that other topical issues will be clearly highlighted including traffic congestion, parking problems, and environmental pollution, which will be critically analysed at the event.

Expressing optimism about the event, he also noted that the assembly of nationwide Transport Commissioners will provide a better avenue for seamless implementation of resolutions reached.

He further noted that leading manufacturers and providers of transport technology solutions will showcase their latest future-proved transport technology solutions at the first-of-its-kind transport fair, in addition to a gala and industry award night to wrap up the two-day event.

“Such technologically-driven transportation modems that will ensure the achievement of a Smart Nigeria can only be arrived at through a well-researched plan and implementation,” Oladeinde pointed out.

The Executive Secretary, Nigeria Transportation Commissioners Forum, Mrs Chinwe Uwaegbute also stated that Lagos was chosen as the host State for the maiden edition of the NTTCE because of its well-structured strategic transport policies and management which placed her ahead of other States of the Federation.

Adding to that, Mr Kamar Olowoshago, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation pointed out that Lagos State has always played the leading role in the actualisation of progressive policies that support infrastructural development.

He also urged all transport stakeholders to be on the lookout for resolutions that’d be reached at the end of the two-day conference in early June.
