Italdesign’s Hand-Built Nissan GT-R50 Is Finally Being Delivered To Customers

The Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign has been a long time coming, having been announced as early as 2018. That’s why, when the firm announced and unveiled the production version in May 2020, many people were ecstatic, and we assumed that the $1 million price tag wouldn’t bother its wealthy consumers too much. It was announced at the time that the first batch of client cars will arrive in late 2020 or early 2021.

However, following delays for unknown reasons, Italdesign has begun shipping the first batch of GT-R50 units, with the first five of the limited 50 now on their way to their new owners. It’s better to be late than never, as the saying goes.

Of course, these unique Nissan GT-R replicas are designed and manufactured fully by hand in Moncalieri, Italy, and are custom-made for customers who choose to customize them with unique liveries and colours.

One of the first units is based on a renowned 1972 GT-R showcar, and features a unique design and livery, as well as a distinctive Verde Kenmeri. Two owners chose the Liquid Kinetic Gray/Energic Sigma Gold paint scheme from the concept car that premiered at Goodwood in 2018. The other two are by Argento Italdesign and Nero Caravaggio, respectively.

The Nissan GT-R50 is driven by a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 engine that was designed from the ground up. The turbocharger, pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, fuel injectors, camshafts, and catalyzer were all developed from the ground up.

The total output is 710 horsepower, which is 110 horsepower higher than the basic Nissan GT-R Nismo. Nismo also managed to enhance the torque generated by the VR38DETT mill to 575 lb-ft (780 Nm), an increase of 94 lb-ft (128 Nm) over the previous model.

As previously stated, only 50 GT-R50s would be produced, each costing $1.08 million (N447 million).
