The Lamborghini Urus has become the cash maker for the Italian company, just like other luxury SUVs have done for other companies.

For some exotic car brands, continuously offering SUV cars has become their most reliable way of continuously making cool cash. For the sportscar division, Lamborghini has used its Urus model as its money-making machine.

In the real world, car markers don’t just make cars for the fun of car making. They make cars to also make a profit, aside from standing out in the market. Generally, every single automaker has profitability at the back of its mind.

Lamborghini is currently doing what other car brands like Porsche, Bentley, and Jaguar did, selling SUVs to make a profit because they sell quickly.

Given that, this is notably a reason why Ferrari is moving towards launching its own first-ever SUV. This makes the news less shocking that Lamborghini has just produced its 20,000th Urus SUV.

The Urus was launched in 2018, one of the reasons was to make so much money for the company (to also become a bigger success than the LM002 SUV the company introduced in 1986).

It can be said that the mission has finally been accomplished because the sales are not slowing down. Only in July 2020, the company produce the 10,000th unit of the Urus. Barely two years later, they have sold another 10,000. Currently, the 20,000th model has just left the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory.

This 20,000th milestone Urus is moving to Azerbaijan where the owner awaits the arrival.

What this means is that the Urus model has become the company’s best-selling model in record time. To meet this demand and double deliveries, the Italian marque had to hire more than 500 people. The factory where it is also assembled has doubled in size from 80,000 to 160,000 square metres.

Last year, on its way to delivering 5,021 units of the Urus, Lamborghini recorded the best sales year in its 59-year history.

Conclusion

What this means for this flagship car is that it might be expecting something soon. A transformation, possibly a conversion to an electric or a plug-in hybrid model. This transition is not expected to happen any time soon, but, it’s definitely something the brand will be thinking of.
