Innoson Motors is faced with yet another competition as another automaker in Nigeria has completed the assembling of 2,000 vehicles.

The completion was earmarked on Tuesday, October 24 2023 by Chinese car manufacturing company, CIG. The company’s assembling plant in Ogba, Lagos was built in partnership with the Lagos State Government.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended the company for choosing Lagos as the place to launch their plant, noting that this development will create even more job opportunities for many in Lagos, while also pledging his support to their continuous growth.

He describes the assembling of 2,000 vehicles as a remarkable milestone and a reflection of the promising synergy between international partnerships and local talent.

According to the chairman of CIG Motors, Daina Chen, the journey to launching the plant in 2020 began after the company and the state signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to partner in establishing a vehicle assembling plant.

She notes that the plants can assemble 50,000 vehicles and more, and the company will increase its production to 5000.

With CIG gaining strong foothold in places like Lagos, there’s no telling as they are set to become Innoson Motors major competitor in the industry.
