Gboko Local Government Area, Benue State – Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state honoured his old boss, Mnenge Mtemave, and other contemporaries in Gboko Motor Park on Monday, December 27, for making a significant effect in his life while he worked as a conductor.

The Benue governor, according to Daily Trust, also toasted the driver’s colleagues at his villa in Ipav, Mbadim in the Gboko local government area in the spirit of the 2021 yuletide.

According to the newspaper, Ortom worked as a motor conductor for Mtemave, a driver at the Gboko Motor Park, in the late 1970s and early 1980s while growing up in Gboko town after dropping out of elementary school.

During the celebration, which was attended by his contemporaries, his old boss, and their family members, he recalled Mtemave inviting him to work as a conductor and later teaching him how to drive.

The governor went on to say that Mtemave eventually made him cashier and treasurer of all the money they made monthly and handed him a blank cheque to spend as he pleased, an opportunity he never took for granted and still went back to him to authorise spending on his necessities.
