As the ember months draw closer, the Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Moses Itike, has advised motorists to be extra cautious. He noted that the period usually brings about the spirit of accidents as commercial bus drivers tend to make huge money during this period.
During a workshop organized by the Kaduna State Road Safety Commission in the state on Wednesday, Itike explained that the increase in road accidents during the Ember Months is due to the mindset of commercial bus drivers and their desire to make money. He said that by increasing their speed, they disregard the roadworthiness of their vehicles and cause accidents.
According to him, in November 2022, over 80 people died in road accidents. He urged car owners and drivers to be more cautious on the road as life will never be retrieved. He also noted that even if only I’d been driving within a certain limit, there would be fewer accidents.
