The Corps Marshal of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Boboye Oyeyemi on Thursday ordered compliance with a directive from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba over the ban on spy number plates.

He said this would forestall the continuous disregard of traffic rules and regulations and other extant laws guiding road use by individuals hiding under the privileges of spy police number plates.

The IGP on Wednesday ordered a total ban on the use of police spy number plates by vehicle owners across the states without exceptions.

Oyeyemi stated that FRSC will impound vehicles with faded plate numbers and private vehicles with commercial plate numbers.

He noted that the use of faded and unauthorized vehicle number plates has implications on national security.
