As a spiritual successor to the Phantom coupe, the 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre EV is here as the long-awaited electric Rolls, an idea proposed 120 years ago. Pricing will be around $340,000 (₦255,0000,00) Cullinan and $460,000 (₦345,0000,00) Phantom and it will weigh around 6,500lbs. The Spectre is based on an aluminium space frame with an integrated battery to increase rigidity. And that battery alone weighs 1,543lbs.

Rolls aren’t sharing how big the battery is as of yet but they are saying it can achieve 320miles or WLTP range or around 260miles of EPA range. We also don’t know the powertrain layout, only that it makes 577HP and 664 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 in around 4.4sec.

Like the more powerful, cheaper and more spacious Cadillac Celestiq, the Rolls is focused on a luxurious ride. But the Celestiq likely won’t be capable of being as smooth as Rolls’s Magic Carpet ride using a planar suspension, active anti-roll bars, 4-wheel steering, and adaptive dampers with the air suspension.

The design is an evolution of Rolls’s past with split lights, and a new sleeker Spirt of Ecstasy to be more aerodynamic. Inside is very familiar though with more LED starlight lighting and a digital display. Production starts in late 2023, just like the Celestiq.

Rolls-Royce says the Spectre fulfils a 120-year-old prophecy from the brand’s co-founder.

“The electric car is perfectly noiseless and clean. There is no smell or vibration. They should become very useful when fixed charging stations can be arranged,” Charles Rolls famously said in 1900.

The Spectre wears the iconic long hood, sloping roofline and even the traditional Rolls-Royce grille at the front. In fact, the Spectre’s split headlight treatment is intersected by the widest grille ever given to a Rolls. The grille also has subtle backlights, with 22 LEDs placed on the rear side of each vane.

As for the doors, they measure almost one and a half meters, making them the largest coach doors ever seen on Rolls. Following the roofline back, the tail lamps are set into a large single-body panel, which extends from the A-pillar to the luggage compartment.
