2022 Toyota Tundra for sale – The Toyota Tundra is hard to beat when it comes to solid, durable full-size pickup trucks with excellent off-road capability and great resale value. Since it made its debut in the automobile market in 2004, the Toyota Tundra only went through a redesign in 2014. The Toyota Tundra feels archaic and inferior compared to its three big competitors including the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado / GMC Sierra and Ram 1500. However, the old looks and old functionality is about to change, as the giant Japanese auto-mobile company sets to redefine the Toyota Tundra come 2022. Here’s everything we know about what Toyota has planned for the full-size truck segment- Toyota Tundra.

Improved Interior With Bigger Screen

For the new Toyota Tundra to compete effectively against the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500, which both have available 12.0-inch screens; then it needs to have a significantly improved interior with a bigger screen. The current Tundra comes standard with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, though an 8.0-inch unit is available.

Teaser photos of the 2022 Tundra uploaded by the Japanese automakers show a large centre-mounted touch screen displaying Apple CarPlay. This teaser photo shows the top of the new Tundra’s dash, and it seems to be the same TRD Pro model with two JBL speakers mounted inside the A-pillars, and the steering wheel has a red stripe atop the steering wheel, likely exclusive to the TRD Pro model. Toyota has also confirmed via a teaser video that the Tundra TRD Pro model will feature a unique red leather interior, complete with trim-specific accent stitching.

The new Tundra will usher Toyota’s latest Entune infotainment technology. This includes an available 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a large head-up display unit. Toyota’s full Safety Sense suite of goodies are expected to be available, too, including automatic braking, advanced radar cruise control, automatic lane centring and lane-keep assist, and much more.

Wireless Charging And Off-Road Modes

On the TRD Pro model of the 2022 Toyota Tundra, features will include off-road drive modes, hill-descent control, and Toyota’s crawl control, which works as an off-road cruise control system. The off-road-focused model will also have a red interior with the “TRD Pro” logo embroidered into the seatbacks. In addition, the newly improved 2022 Tundra will have wireless charging ability inbuilt into the system.

Panoramic Sunroof And Sliding Rear Window

Toyota shows off creative intelligence in redesigning the interior of the 2022 Tundra. Unlike the current model of the Toyota Tundra, the 2022 version comes with a panoramic sunroof that should be available on higher trim levels. Its rear window will also roll down just like the old truck and 4Runner SUV. The 2022 Tundra will continue to boast a fully retractable rear window

2022 Tundra Better Engine And Performance

The current-generation Tundra uses Toyota’s 5.7-liter iForce V-8 engine, which produces 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. The new 2022 Tundra is set to get a better engine and generate more power. The new Tundra is expected to use a new twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine which is expected to generate  409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.

A New Platform

The Tundra should be among the first vehicles on a new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform for body-on-frame trucks, which will also underpin the Sequoia, Tacoma and 4Runner. This new platform utilizes lighter-weight construction materials and improves ride quality and safety.

The suspension style of the Toyota Tundra is not left out in the fully-redesigned 2022 version. Similar to existing full-sized trucks like the Ram 1500, the new Tundra will have a coil-spring suspension in the rear. This is a marked upgrade unlike the existing leaf-spring suspension in the current model.

2022 Tundra Expected Better Payload And Towing Capacity

Unlike the current Tundra which has five-lug wheels, teaser shots of the new Tundra clearly show six-lug wheels. This strongly suggests that Toyota plans to improve the current model’s 10,200-pound towing and 1,730-pound payload capacity. However, the exact towing and payload capacity is not known yet.

Teaser photos of the Toyota Tundra show that the version will showcase brilliant, exquisite, modern styling. The front fascia is dominated by a new grille design, which features an integrated LED light bar on the TRD Pro model. The front bumper is well integrated with this large grille and is complemented by some unique texturing.

The Tundra TRD Pro in the official image Toyota shared is equipped with 285/65 Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires and a new set of TRD Pro wheels.

2022 Tundra Release Date And Price

Unlike the price of the current Tundra, it is expected that when the 2022 Tundra gets released, it will be slightly expensive compared to the currently available models.

The third-generation Tundra should be a 2022 model year vehicle. We expect a debut before the end of the year.
