Buju (BNXN) goes by the real name Daniel Benson. He is a native of Akwa Ibom State but was born and raised in Lagos on May 19, 1997. Before he moved to Mowe in Ogun State, the artiste stayed in the Gbagada area in Lagos.
Buju did his secondary school at Emerald Ridge High School. He then went to Babcock University for his degree in Theatre Art. However, the artiste lost his mother after she battled Cancer for an extended period. He has severally noted in interviews that he was determined to work harder after losing his mother. This led him to rekindle his interest in music.

Buju’s interest in music started at a young age. In secondary school, he gave himself the nickname “Drizzle,” which he later changed. He began rapping and eventually became a member of a church choir.
He started his musical career by playing solo at valedictory services in his high school and later carried it on to the university. Buju notes that his musical interest was influenced by artists like Burna Boy, Damian Marley, Buju Banton, J Hus, and many others.
While doing his IT job while in school, he found it frustrating and started penning songs, freestyling, and playing music to cope with work stress.
Subsequently, he started visiting places where he performed his songs. He was later fired from his job due to his laid-back attitude.
In February 2018, he released his first song, “Catch a Vibe.” Later, he dropped his second song, “A Day in Lagos,” which gave him some recognition on Soundcloud and Twitter.
Zlatan noticed the artiste and decided to collaborate with him. They created “Spiritual,” which became an incredibly successful hit and went viral on multiple streaming platforms.
In 2020, the artist was signed by Burna Boy’s Spaceship Records after the famous video and a noteworthy verse from Zlatan, with a remix of his tune L’enu featuring Burna Boy as the debut anthem. His first EP was released in 2019.
