The saying ‘what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger’ is visible in the life of Victor Moses, a professional Nigerian footballer who currently plays for Chelsea as a Wing-back, and the Nigerian national team- Super Eagles. Born into a Christian home on the 12th of December 1990 in Lagos, Nigeria, he experienced what can be described as the worst day of his life.

In 2002, at the age of 11, Victor Moses headed out with his friends to play football as he had every other day, but on that fateful day as he returned he met his parents in a pool of their own blood. His parents- Pastor Austine Moses and Mrs Josephine Moses had been murdered by Muslim youths in a Christian versus Muslim riot in Kaduna. After experiencing such trauma, he was hidden by his relatives and friends who later sponsored him to go to the United Kingdom to seek Asylum.
