Like many Nigerian youths, Joeboy was hustling in the music industry as he tried to make a name for himself. Luck however shined on him when he recorded a cover of “Shape of you” by Ed Sheeran, and it gained attention from many Nigerians. In 2017, Mr. Eazi, also a Nigerian artiste signed him to his record label “Empawa Africa” where he released a song called Faaji in 2018. After releasing the song in 2018, he also recorded a video for the song and it made waves in the music scene.
His big break happened in March 2019, when he released Baby, and it gathered over 20 million views on YouTube, with the visuals recording over 31 million views on YouTube. He followed this great success by recording another song beginning in August 2019, and this song had views exceeding 21 million on YouTube. In November 2019, he released his Extended Playlist (EP), where he included his hit songs and also featured another popular Nigerian artiste, Mayorkun.
As a result of his tenacity and success in the Nigerian music industry, he has been nominated and has won some awards like Best Pop at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards, Best Artiste in African Pop at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards. His inspirations are 9ice and ID Cabasa, two Nigerian artists who allowed him to learn under their wings.
He was one of the 10,000 applicants from 14 African countries that applied to the emPawa Africa scholarship created by Mr. Eazi. He was part of the 100 recipients who received $3,000, and with his money, he released a song called Faaji, which allowed him to become a mentor at a music training camp organized by emPawa Africa in South Africa. His genres of music are Afrobeats and Contemporary R & B.

He is regarded as a new-age Nigerian artiste, and he is one of Nigeria’s finest fast-rising acts. He has been nominated for several awards but has two awards under his belt.
Apart from being a musician and releasing studio music, he has performed severally at various music fests and concerts since entering the scene in 2017. Some shows he has performed in are the: Mayor of Lagos Festival, Pop Campus, BBNaija House party, and some other fests. Performing at these places is not done for free as the host of each concert will have to pay money to his management.
After-sales on his albums (Bars in 2019; Love & Light in 2019; The Herrera Chronicles in 2019), and his performance at music festivals, Joeboy has an estimated net worth of about $800,000 (N307, 968,000).
No houses have been associated with the fast-rising talent, Joeboy. Some speculate that he lives with Mr. Eazi as his most promising act, while others speculate that he still lives with his family as a young boy. None of these have been confirmed by the singer.
Joeboy has been sported with cars in his music videos, and many of them are expensive. But outside his videos, it is unknown whether he has a personal car or if he uses a car provided by his record label- emPawa Africa. He has not come out on social media claiming to be the owner of any new car, but we are looking forward to him copping one for himself.
On his Twitter social media page, Joeboy posted a picture of him and an unknown lady and captioned the photo Apanto Peperempe. Of course, Twitter went agog as many were speculating if it was his woman. No answers were given, as Joeboy is usually a private person when it comes to his personal life.
