Emmanuel Emenike was born on 10 May 1987 in Otuocha, Nigeria to Mr. and Mrs. Felix Emenike Ndukwu. Not much is known about his formal education, but Emmanuel Emenike has a passion for football from a young age. His humble beginnings in football were with a local football club, named Delta Force in his home country, Nigeria. According to him, he would trek for long distances to participate in football competitions. He wasn’t paid while he played for the Delta Force, as the club complained of a lack of finances. The club also lacked support from the Delta State Government. Despite the difficulties, Emmanuel Emenike stayed committed to playing until he moved to Mpumalanga Black Aces, a first division club in South Africa, in 2008.

Fortune smiled on him when joined the Mpumalanga Black Aces, as this began his first paying club as a footballer. His talent soon came to the limelight when he scored his first goal on his debut match with the team against Dynamos F.C. on 17 February 2008. However, the match didn’t end in a win, as his team lost the match 4 – 2.

In May 2008, Emmanuel joined the First Division team F.C. Cape Town.

Moving forward, Emmanuel Emenike signed a one-year loan deal with Karabükspor, Turkey in 2009. He made his debut on 23 August 2009 in the opening game of the 1. Lig season. The game against Samsunspor ended in a 3–3 draw. His time spent at Karabukspor was laced with success, as he went on to score 16 goals in the TFF First League, winning the title and getting the club promoted to the Super Lig. During his time at Karabükspor, Emmanuel bagged the award of 1. Lig Best Foreign Player Award. At the end of the 2009-2010 term, his contract with Karabükspor was extended by 3 years for 300,000 euros.

However, his time spent in Turkey was also characterized by a legal battle with a newspaper agency, ‘Haber Turk’ over “malicious” and “misleading” allegations that his age was seven years different from what is displayed on his travel passport.

His time with Karabukspor ended when he joined Fenerbahçe S.K. in May 2011 for an undisclosed fee, which many propose to be about € 9 million. On the 28th of July, 2011 he was sold to Spartak Moscow for €10 million but he never appeared in a competitive match for Fenerbahçe due to the match-fixing scandal involving Fenerbahce and Emenike. He had a swell time playing for Spartak Moscow as he made history scoring the fastest goal in the history of the Russian League, within 10 seconds of kick-off in a 2-1 win over Alania Vladikavkaz.

Emmanuel Emenike must have had a soft spot for Fenerbahce, as he moved back to the club in August 2013 for a fee worth around €13m. He was quoted saying Fenerbahce has always been a dream place for him concerning his return to Turkey.

Emenike joined Greek champions Olympiacos on the 6th July 2017 for a transfer fee of €3.8 million on a two-year deal. He made his debut appearance in the club on 25 July 2017, scoring the last-minute goal that helped Olympiacos to a 3–1 victory against FK Partizan.

Though a Nigerian by origin, Emmanuel Emenike didn’t play for Nigeria until 2013 when He was called up to Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the AFCON. His first representation of the Nigerian football team was in a friendly match against Sierra Leone. On the 21st January 2013, he scored Nigeria’s opening AFCON match against Burkina Faso which ended in a 1–1 draw.

His second goal was in the quarter final match between Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire in which he scored the first goal with Nigeria winning the match.
