The 3rd Generation of Honda Pilot was released in 2016 and went through a light freshening in 2019 that included some updates on the front and rear designs, a revamped cabin, a new infotainment system with a real volume knob, and more. This look has remained the same since, and we expect it to stay unchanged when the 2021 Pilot hits showrooms.
The coming soon 2021 Honda Pilot may not have any new design changes as it’s about to roll out into Showrooms, so they might maintain the same look it has in 2019. This updated look included a new trapezoidal grille, revised fog lights, updated headlights, repositioned reverse lights, and a new rear garnish on higher trims. Inside, the update included a new steering wheel, updated gauge readouts, and more. The refreshed tech included the addition of 4G Wi-Fi, enlarged rear-seat entertainment screens, a physical volume knob, and an in-cabin PA system.

2021 Honda Pilot Redesigned Exterior, Interior & Features
The Pilot’s interior is spacious and practical and can be had with family-friendly options such as an in-cabin PA system. Most trim levels offer a three-across second row, for those who need to seat eight. Pricier models forgo the bench for two captain’s chairs, reducing the passenger count to seven. However, the spacious third row’s low seat cushion means it’s really only practical for kids. The Pilot’s dashboard layout features easy-to-use climate controls and a clearly marked gauge cluster, and there are a whopping 16 cupholders throughout the cabin.
The Pilot exhibits typical Honda efficiency with smart use of space and practical features. The first and second rows are roomy. The third row is big enough for occasional use for adults, but it’s not as spacious as what you’ll find in a Kia Telluride or Volkswagen Atlas. Access to the third row is also a bit narrow.
2021 Honda Pilot Review
The 2021 Honda Pilot is the automaker’s largest and most capable SUV. It seats up to eight passengers and has a roomy enough third-row seat for adults. There’s plenty of cargo room too, whether you’re just loading up some groceries or folding down the rear seats to help a friend move house. We’re also impressed by the Pilot’s fuel-efficient and powerful engine and exceptional ride and seat comfort.
Among midsize three-row SUVs, the Pilot isn’t quite the go-to choice it was when this generation was introduced in 2016. Since then, new competitors such as the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride have debuted, offering even more space and interior refinement. There’s also the Mazda CX-9; it’s smaller but in return it gives you a sportier driving experience. But overall the 2021 Pilot is one of our favorites. We recommend putting it right at the top of your research list for a well-rounded family SUV… Edmunds
