Exterior Design & Style
The Velar design is inspired by the Range Rover Evoque. While the Evoque is in its second generation, the Velar is in its first. The first striking difference anyone would suspect in these two Range Rover models is the exterior design. Range Rover Evoque has a sporty and bold exterior with defined curves and muscular wheel wells.
The Velar, on the other hand, has ultra-slim LED headlights that accentuates the sleeks and modern design that extends through the whole frame of the car. In addition, the Velar is larger than the Evoque by about 17 inches long and two inches wider.

A standard 21-inch wheel is available on the Velar while the Evoque has standard 20-inch wheels. They share standard Premium LED Headlights with Signature DRL, Automatic Headlight Leveling, Rear Fog Lights, Rear Sensing Windshield Wipers, and both have optional Front Fog Lights.
Both the Range Rover Evoque and Velar have exquisite interior finishes. For instance, both have a premium modern design and can comfortably seat five passengers. Both also have a 40:20:40 rear folding seating, extended leather upgrade, front and rear cup holders, and an Interactive Driver Display amongst other similar features.
The Velar features a refined interior design with dual sliding front arm resets, ambient lighting, and two 10-inch touchscreens. While the Range Rover Evoque stays true to its sporty style with twin-needle stitched leather, an eight-inch touchscreen media system, and an available panoramic roof. The Velar has an optional Four-Zone Climate Control while the Evoque features standard Two-Zone Climate Control. The Velar has a Meridian™ Signature Sound System while the Evoque features a Meridian ™ Surround Sound System.
When it comes to space and size, the velar has more cargo space than the Evoque. Range Rover Evoque has a maximum space of 50.5 cubic feet while the Velar has 70 cubic feet.
Engine And Performance
It can’t be denied that Range Rover models provide an excellent driving experience with great performance. However, between the Velar and Evoque, their performance varies. The Range Rover Evoque is powered by either a 246 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or a high-performance 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 296 horsepower. You get different Powertrain options in the Velar. You can choose between three gas-powered engines: a 247-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that produces 340 horsepower or a 3.0-liter V6 that produces 380 horsepower. Or you can choose the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine with 180 horsepower.
The Velar is equipped with an 8-speed transmission while the Evoque is equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Both the Evoque and Velar have the option to upgrade to AWD.
As far as features are concerned, the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Velar share plenty of similarities. Both vehicles come standard with a rearview camera, Rear Parking Aid, Hill Descent Control, Start/Stop technology, and Cruise Control with Speed Limiter. Optional features on both vehicles include Head-Up Display, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor with Reverse Traffic Detection, and Traffic Sign Recognition. The Velar has an 8-inch rear-seat entertainment option while the Evoque does not.
