2023 Lexus RX Overview
The 2023 RX is a redesigned model with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that replaces the previous V6. In the 2023 model, the touchpad controller is finally gone and replaced by a standard touchscreen. The car has been upgraded to become even more engaging to drive than its predecessors. That’s to say, you’ll have a lot of fun with this car.
The 2023 Model of the RX is the kickoff of the fifth generation of the RX. The RX has always won over other cars in its distinctive styling, lower-than-average price tag, and reliability of its parent company, the Toyota Motors Corporation.
The 2023 RX has six trims: Standard, Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F Sport Handling, and F Sport Performance. All the trims are electric except the RX 350, which is the standard trim.
The 2023 RX is offered with not less than four different powertrains, starting with the base RX350 model. The RX 350, the standard model, is powered by a 275-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine. This model has an eight-speed automatic, front-wheel drive standard, and an optional all-wheel drive.
The hybrid RX 350h pairs electric motors with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine to make 246 horsepower and comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive. The RX500h F Sport combines a turbocharged 2.4-litre and electric power to make 367 horsepower and utilizes Lexus’s Direct4 system.
Lexus will also be adding a plug-in hybrid model—RX450h+. Although the full spec has not been released yet, it could come with a 302 horsepower powertrain that’s offered in Toyota RAV4 Prime SUV.
The 2023 Lexus is offered exclusively as a two-row, five-seat SUV. The brand might add a three-row later or replace the RX L with a standard third row of seats. 2023 also has a more modern interior than the 2015 model. It has textured fabric sections on the upper door panels, rich-looking ambient lighting, and open-pore wood trim on RX350 models.
The infotainment is a 9.8-inch touchscreen, but there’s an optional 14.0-inch screen. It is also equipped with the latest software features like the Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto, which are standard. The 2023 Lexus RX also has many driver assistance features like automated emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control with a lane-centring feature.
2015 Lexus RX Overview
The 2015 Lexus RX, on the other hand, has a spacious interior, a smooth ride, a muscular V6 engine, and an impeccable reliability rating. Although older than the 2023 model and nowhere near it, it’s still one of the top luxury midsize SUVs.
In 2015, the Lexus RX ranked #1 in the US News & World Report’s 2015 Luxury Midsize SUVs category. It also emerged as the winner of the Best Luxury 2-Row SUV for Families award. The 2015 Lexus RX also marks the sixth and final model in the third generation of the Lexus RX that was launched in 2010.
The 2015 RX looks similar to 2010 with minimal changes. The car launched with only three trim levels: Standard, F Sport, and Crafted Line. The car got a five-star excellent reliability rate from J.D Power and has great performance equipped with a 270-horsepower V6 engine for the RX 350.
The car has great safety features like blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, and Lexus’ Pre-Collision System. All of these features give you a forward collision warning with brake assist and adaptive cruise control.
Which Do You Prefer: The 2015 Or 2023 Lexus RX?
The 2015 Lexus RX is still a very good package in 2022. However, 2023 comes more modernized with even more advanced technological features. The 2023 mark the beginning of the fifth generation of the RX, and Lexus welcomed it with a new design, new engines, a better performance-oriented model with a new hybrid powertrain, and an additional new plug-in hybrid RX450h+ model.
Given all of these advances, the 2023 model beats the 2015 model and is the most preferred. However, in terms of price, the 2015 RX is cheaper and preferred than the 2023 model.
Conclusion
Both the 2015 RX and 2023 RX are great cars. But, they don’t compete favourably because the 2023 model has greater advantages over the 2015 model.
