Mercedes Benz has been tested and trusted as a brand that offers durability and luxury. Many wealthy elites in Nigeria, like celebrities, business magnates and even politicians, don’t hesitate to splash their money on acquiring one or more Mercedes Benz cars. Little wonder almost 80% of Nigerian governors have one or more Mercedes Benz vehicles, either used as an official car or personal car. Amongst Mercedes Benz brands, the S550 4matic sedan is particularly loved by Nigerian governors with a starting price of 70 million NGN.

Due to security reasons, these sedans are usually bulletproof to add extra protection for governors during official duty. Under the hood of the S-550 is either a 429-hp turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six-cylinder engine on the S500 or a 496-hp twin-turbo 4.0-litre V-8 on the S580. Both powertrains are supplemented by a 48-volt hybrid system (called EQ Boost) and pair with a nine-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive.
